The Loloma Story.

A Lake Taupō story since 1965

Loloma is more than a charter boat – she is part of Taupō’s history.

Built locally in 1965 from solid steel, Loloma was originally used to tow barges from Kawakawa Bay carrying shingle used to make concrete for the surrounding Taupō area. Her connection with the town even extends to a street at Wharewaka Point bearing the Loloma name.

Today, the 42-foot vessel has a very different job. Loloma has been transformed into a private Lake Taupō charter vessel, taking guests fishing, sightseeing, celebrating and exploring across the lake.

Her generous layout and distinctive design make her particularly well suited to groups, with space for up to 28 guests on day charters while retaining the character that comes from more than six decades on Lake Taupō.

From her working beginnings to today’s private charters, Loloma remains very much a Taupō boat.

Incredible experience, everything that I dreamed it would be. Chartered the Loloma for a group of 11 for a 50th Birthday celebration. Izzy and Vaughan were welcoming and helpful. They guided us to a super spot for some crystal clear swimming and paddle-boarding. They provided everything we needed to make our picnic lunch run smoothly. The boat was clean, equipped and well run. My group were so inspired by the day, they are already thinking up another excuse to make another booking. I can't recommend hiring this boat enough for your special day, it was pure magic and it made my birthday. Thanks so much Izzy and Vaughan and Loloma Charters :) Suzanne
